Fashion is a form of free speech. Not only does it embrace clothing, but also accessories, jewelry, hairstyles, beauty and body art. What we wear and how and when we wear it, provides others with a shorthand to subtly read the surface of a social situation.
Fashion is a language of signs, symbols and iconography that non-verbally communicate meanings about individuals and groups.
Fashion is something we deal with everyday. Even people who say they don't care what they wear choose clothes every morning that say a lot about them and how they feel that day.
